GR is a consistency principle -- not a direct guide to action. It doesn't tell us which individual acts are right or wrong; it just tells us to be consistent. We might be consistent and still act wrongly.
On the other hand, if the other elements that GR depends on (such as understanding, imagination, and desires -- see Chapter 7) are in proper working order, then we'll generally tend to act rightly toward others if we follow GR.
