The derivation of GR from the axioms (universalizability, prescriptivity, and rationality) works regardless of the kind of being that X is. If it's all right for me to hit X, then it would be all right for me to be hit if I were in X's exact place. This holds regardless of whether X is my next door neighbor, someone in another country, or even my pet dog. It also holds if X is a nail; but here the application is vacuous -- since (a) I can't coherently imagine myself in the exact place of the nail, and (b) even if I could, then I wouldn't care whether I'd be hit in such circumstances.
